Dear Parents,
As concerned, caring parents we struggle with every decision we make for our children. "What is the safest car seat?" "How old should my baby be before I return to work?" "What kind of diaper would be best for my baby?"
I am a mother of three and the inventor of Diaperaps. Back when my eldest daughter (now 23) was in diapers, I was a dedicated cotton diaper user. I believed then, as I do now, that nothing is more comfortable next to baby's skin than natural, breathable cotton.
Shortly after my son Jonas was born in 1980, I was living in Hong Kong. The humid weather, in combination with rubber pants, left my baby with terrible diaper rash. It was then that I invented Diaperaps, a patented diaper cover which allows air to circulate, yet is waterproof, easy to use and which eliminates the need for diaper pins. It wasn't until 1984 that I was able to get my product manufactured and distributed to parents like yourselves. The response was overwhelmingly positive. I have since received "thank yous" from parents across the country, including mothers of twins, triplets and quadruplets.
I have devoted my time and efforts to the Diaperaps diapering system because I believe the diaper choice you make will have a lasting effect on your baby and the future of our planet.
Children learn through imitation. They learn to speak because they hear us speak. When they are young, they yearn to be just like their mommies and daddies. We try to teach them our values and what is most important to us. We hope they will grow up strong and caring.
A child spends their first two to three years in diapers. What will they learn from their experience in these most impressionable years?
Disposable diapers are not only the greatest symbol of our throw-away mentality, they also represent an enormous waste of resources. It takes over 7000 disposable diapers to do the same job as 80 cotton diapers. A disposable diaper is used for 2 hours--a cotton diaper is used for more than three years.
The beauty of the diapering choice before you is that you can make a difference. You can make a difference in how much you consume and what example you set for your children. You can teach them, from their first day, the value of caring for the earth and dealing with waste in a responsible way. And, best of all, you can choose a diapering system which gives it all to you.
I have worked for many years perfecting these products. I hope my work will make your decision easier.
Thank you very much.
